Insomniac Games recently addressed the buzz surrounding their much-anticipated Marvel’s Wolverine for PS5, responding to fans who have been enthusiastically pleading for updates. The studio made it clear that any new information about the game will only emerge when the team feels ready, emphasizing that external pressure won’t rush them into sharing details prematurely.
During a conversation sparked by a tweet discussing the Spider-Man 2 PC port, one follower took a swipe at Insomniac for what they perceived as negligence toward PS5 enthusiasts eagerly awaiting Wolverine news. The commenter sarcastically remarked on the dev team’s perceived indifference.
It’s not typical for Insomniac Games to engage in such exchanges on social media, but this time their social media team chose to respond. “We’ll share news about the game when we are ready to share it,” they confidently replied, stressing the word “we.” They went on to explain, “We can’t act on everything requested when things take time, resources, and the greenlight to share them.”
Despite the restrained communication, Insomniac assured fans that Wolverine is indeed an active project under development.
Towards the end of 2023, Insomniac Games faced a significant setback with a major ransomware attack, leading to a leak of substantial Wolverine alpha footage online. The studio expressed their dismay over the breach but reassured everyone that this incident hasn’t disrupted the game’s development or their plans for its future unveiling.
Marvel’s Wolverine was initially announced back in September 2021, but since then, substantial updates have been sparse. Given how protracted game development timelines have become across the industry, it’s likely that we’ll have to wait a bit longer before getting a real look at the gameplay.
