Apple has rolled out the latest update for Vision Pro, introducing visionOS 2.4, now open to the public. This update has finally integrated Apple Intelligence features into the headset. In addition, there’s an iPhone companion app designed to streamline the user experience and facilitate sharing. A noteworthy addition, the new Spatial Gallery, allows users to explore curated spatial content directly through the headset.
Interestingly, while iPhones, iPads, and Macs have been equipped with Apple Intelligence features since October 2024, Vision Pro was conspicuously missing from the list. No confirmation was given by Apple on when, or if, the headset would receive these features, leaving many users in suspense. That uncertainty ends today. With VisionOS 2.4, users now have access to those same Apple Intelligence capabilities available on other Apple gadgets. This includes a variety of writing tools for proofreading, rewriting, and summarizing, as well as image creation tools like Image Playground and Genmoji.
The update goes beyond merely adding Apple Intelligence features; it’s a direct response to the common challenges users face with the headset.
The new Spatial Gallery app acts as a gateway to a curated collection of spatial (stereoscopic) photos and videos, carefully selected by Apple. At its debut, users are invited to explore narratives and experiences from well-known brands such as Red Bull, Cirque du Soleil, and Porsche. Furthermore, they can get behind the scenes with Apple Originals like “Severance,” “The Studio,” and “The Morning Show,” or listen to conversations with top artists including Bad Bunny, Charli XCX, and Keith Urban.
In a move reminiscent of Apple Watch, the Vision Pro now benefits from a companion app available for iPhone or iPad. This app is a one-stop-shop for discovering the latest apps and entertainment available on the headset, without having to physically wear it just to browse. Alongside this, the app offers tips and tricks to enhance the user’s experience and provides essential support information and updates regarding the headset.
An enhanced Guest User experience is also part of this update. Vision Pro originally launched with a ‘Guest Mode’ feature, allowing owners to easily showcase the device to others. It customizes the setup for the guest user while maintaining control over accessible apps. VisionOS 2.4, together with iOS 18.4, streamlines this process by enabling the headset owner to initiate a Guest Mode session directly from their iPhone. This release also introduces the ability to start View Mirroring remotely, so owners can see exactly what the guest is viewing within the headset, all without needing to guide them through the settings.
With the debut of visionOS 2.4, Apple is also putting a spotlight on upcoming releases of its Apple Immersive Video content. One highlight is “VIP: Yankee Stadium,” set to release on April 4th. It promises an in-depth exploration of how the stadium’s legendary status is cemented by elite athletes, passionate fans, committed staff, and unforgettable moments. Following this, on May 30th, Apple will unveil “Bono: Stories of Surrender,” a documentary focusing on U2’s frontman. This production offers a unique viewing option as both a traditional video on Apple TV+ and an Apple Immersive Video for Vision Pro users.
