Update 1.2 Released for Frontiers of Pandora

Recently, the gaming community received some exciting news: Developer Massive Entertainment rolled out Title Update 1.2 for “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” alongside a brand-new expansion. This update arrives just in time for the game’s first anniversary, adding support for the PlayStation 5 Pro and fixing a myriad of issues.

“Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora,” inspired by James Cameron’s iconic sci-fi film series, is an open-world adventure game published by Ubisoft. Since its launch on December 7, 2023, the game has seen a stream of updates aimed at enhancing gameplay features, improving stability, and addressing technical glitches. Staying true to form, the latest update not only brings a wealth of bug fixes but also introduces a new region to explore.

Title Update 1.2 became available on November 28. On the same day, players were treated to the game’s second paid expansion, “Secret of the Spires.” This new content promises a fresh area known as the Spires of the Clouded Forest and an intriguing story campaign. Additionally, players have new side quests, activities, skills, and gear to delve into. Although “Secret of the Spires” was initially set to launch on November 26, a last-minute issue required a brief delay, according to the development team.

One of the standout features of this update is the introduction of PlayStation 5 Pro support. With this enhancement, players on Sony’s latest console can relish the stunning Na’vi homeland at a smooth 60 FPS when using Quality Mode. By contrast, the standard PS5 offers only half that frame rate in the same mode. Furthermore, the PS5 Pro version comes with a higher rendering resolution, utilizing an AI-driven technology known as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to uplift image quality—even on games that don’t officially support the console.

In an exciting development for players, Title Update 1.2 allows skill points to unlock and upgrade various abilities for Avatar’s flying Ikran mount. Plus, the update tackles numerous known issues, including one glitch that undeservedly granted rewards to players without their completing quests or looting.

Downloading the latest update will require some storage space: 24.32 GB on PC, and around 18 GB and 17.5 GB for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users, respectively.

Moving on to the specifics in the Title Update 1.2 Patch Notes, “Secrets of the Spires” offers adventurers a new map called Spires of the Clouded Forest with a fresh campaign, additional side adventures, unique biomes like Tangled Peaks and Warrior’s Rise, and novel flora and fauna to discover. Players will strengthen their bond with their Ikran, bestow it with new skills and gear, contend with aerial foes, and hone newfound abilities.

For broader game progression, players across all platforms can now enhance their Ikran with skills like Ikran Smash and Flares through skill points. On the technical side, PlayStation 5 Pro needs to showcase its power with features like a 60 FPS Quality Mode and high-resolution rendering, alongside the PSSR technology to boost performance and visual fidelity, an advantage amplified by the PS5 Pro’s new machine learning capabilities.

However, a few known issues persist, like performance concerns for Windows 11 users and minor in-game inconveniences across various platforms. These range from menu narration discrepancies to map icon delays. Massive Entertainment is already working on fixes, promising to keep the community informed as solutions are rolled out.
