When Survios launched their eagerly anticipated horror-shooter, Alien: Rogue Incursion (2024), last week, players were caught off guard by the unexpected ‘Part One’ tag. Initially, there was some uncertainty about what this meant. Were players looking at a fragmented game, sold in episodes?
Our comprehensive review quickly clarified that this isn’t the case. The game, spanning eight hours, stands firmly on its own and earned a respectable 7 out of 10 from us. Its immersive settings and heart-pounding battles with Xenomorphs—those relentless, raptor-like creatures—were well-crafted, though the repetitive nature of the foes and the unforgiving save system did dampen the overall experience somewhat.
Survios has since addressed the confusion through a post on X. They clarified that they never intended for the ‘Part One’ descriptor to imply the game was incomplete or being meted out piece by piece. Instead, while the game wraps up with a cliffhanger, it’s simply the beginning of a two-part story arc.
Encouragingly, Survios has confirmed that Part Two is already in the works, promising "deadlier enemies and more challenging obstacles." That’s music to the ears of fans craving more adrenaline-fueled action.
As we anticipate the game’s release for Quest 3/3S on February 13th, 2025, its success remains to be seen. Given the game’s use of dynamically loading levels, intricate textures, and a multitude of physics-based interactions, it’s understandable why the developers opted to delay the Quest launch.
For more clarity, here’s Survios’s full statement:
"To our valued community,
Recently, we’ve noticed a fair bit of feedback concerning "Part One" in Alien: Rogue Incursion’s opening scenes, achievement/trophy lists, and store pages.
Our aim was never to mislead or confuse over the nature of this game, and we realize the implications ‘Part One’ might convey.
Part One is a self-contained story that ends on a cliffhanger. We wanted our fans to know there’s more to come, so we announced Part Two at launch. Everyone at Survios is passionate about the Alien universe and eager to share more stories involving Zula, Davis, and the rest of the characters.
Although we don’t have additional details about Part Two at this moment—other than it’s actively being developed—we promise to bring you more thrilling updates down the line.
We truly value the enthusiasm and excitement you’ve expressed toward Alien: Rogue Incursion and hope you find exploring Purdan and Castor’s Cradle as engaging as it was for us to create it."
With this commitment from Survios, it’s a thrilling time for fans, who now eagerly await the next chapter in this interstellar saga.
