Halfbrick Studios, along with Ian Fitz, the mastermind behind the original The Thrill of the Fight released in 2016, have dropped the eagerly awaited sequel. This exciting continuation of the beloved boxing sim is now available for Early Access on the Quest platform.
This new release of The Thrill of the Fight 2 has been completely reimagined and is now accessible on various Quest headsets—namely Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest Pro. Fans of the original are in for a treat as one of the most demanded features has been introduced: online PvP boxing. This feature marks a significant shift from the first game, which focused exclusively on PvE battles.
As Halfbrick Studios explains, "The initial release includes only multiplayer modes, catering to those eager to dive into online matches right away." While single-player content isn’t available just yet, it is well on its way. According to the developers, the single-player experience will be rolled out over time during the Early Access phase.
This is just the beginning. Development is scheduled to continue into 2025, with plans to introduce competitive AI opponents boasting dynamically generated behaviors and appearances. Moreover, players can look forward to enhanced training modes and additional features that will enrich the gaming experience. During the Early Access period, frequent updates will bring fresh content and refinements to ensure an all-encompassing, immersive gameplay.
Presently, players can enjoy a range of features such as customizable avatars, an online PvP mode equipped with skill-based matchmaking, and realistic physics designed to deliver an authentic boxing feel. Adding to the excitement, a spectator camera allows others to catch the action with a ‘live sports’ styled view from a connected PC.
You can dive into The Thrill of the Fight 2 today through the Horizon Store on Quest for just $10. Whether you’re an old fan or new, this offering promises a thrilling and dynamic boxing experience.
