Helldivers 2 has certainly had its share of peaks and valleys since it hit the shelves, but the latest trailer unveiled at The Game Awards might well be the most thrilling development for the game post-launch. This fresh trailer unveils some tantalizing additions that are sure to shake things up: first, we’re reintroduced to the Illuminate, a formidable enemy faction making its return from the original game. Alongside this threat, Helldivers can now zip across the battlefield in new vehicles. To top it all off, combat is taking a new twist with battles set in urban landscapes. These exciting elements are part of a major update titled Omens of Tyranny, promising to breathe new life into the galaxy-spanning battles of this online shooter.
Since hitting the scene, players have been locked in fierce engagements with two notorious factions: the gigantic insect-like Terminids and the relentless Automatons, a formidable assembly of robots. It’s been a two-front war for the Helldivers. Just as we managed to push back the Terminids, they retaliated by erecting an impenetrable barrier of spores across their territory in space. Meanwhile, the Automatons have persistently threatened Super Earth, not to mention the Democracy Station—a significant player-built structure—that is stranded deep within their clutches.
