Take-Two Interactive has announced its plans to back the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, though they are holding off on spilling more details for now.
In the past, the publisher has offered an array of games for the original Switch, including hits like BioShock: The Collection, Borderlands Legendary Collection, and XCOM 2 Collection. They’ve also brought over Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, along with New Tales from the Borderlands, LEGO 2K Drive, and their latest offerings, NBA 2K25 and Sid Meier’s Civilization VII.
During their third-quarter earnings call for 2025, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick shared some insights. “We’ve enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Nintendo, choosing to support their platforms when it aligned with our goals for each release,” he said. Zelnick noted how Nintendo had previously tailored its devices more towards younger players, which influenced their release agenda at the time.
But things have shifted with the Nintendo Switch, and seem set to continue evolving with the Nintendo Switch 2. The new devices appear to cater to all sorts of gamers. A good example of this shift is the release of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on the Switch. Although they don’t have anything concrete to announce just yet, Zelnick emphasized that they “fully expect” to support the new Switch.
Gamers eager to learn more about Nintendo’s next console can tune into the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation scheduled for 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST on Wednesday, April 2nd.
The global release of Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for 2025, though the exact launch date remains a mystery at this time.
