According to recent reports from IGN, there’s still no official word from Nintendo on when the pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be rescheduled in North America. IGN points to Nintendo’s pre-order FAQ, which specifies that the first wave of invites for their pre-order program is set to roll out on May 8th. However, it’s worth noting that this date has been listed since April 2nd, the day the page was initially published, which is two days before any delay was announced. In fact, we’ve verified this timeline using a Wayback Machine capture of how the site looked when it first went live.
Initially, the pre-orders for the Switch 2 faced delays due to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, affecting multiple countries and potentially disrupting the shipment of these systems to the U.S. Fortunately, many of these tariffs have been scaled back significantly following a 90-day hold. Despite this, Nintendo has yet to provide clear information on revised pre-order plans for North America.
