Shiftall, a Japan-based company known for its MeganeX PC VR headsets, unveiled two intriguing VR controller accessories at CES 2025. One is a controller compatible with SteamVR for PC VR enthusiasts, and the other is a distinctive add-on for Quest Touch controllers that enhances functionality with a scroll wheel and extra buttons.
### GripVR
Shiftall is stepping into the standard PC VR game with GripVR, a controller crafted specifically for SteamVR tracking systems (1.0, 2.0). It carries a familiar button layout featuring AB/XY input buttons, clickable joysticks, triggers, and grips. Each of these components includes capacitive touch sensors for a seamless experience.
The GripVR promises an impressive eight hours of battery life, rechargeable via a USB Type-C port. Just like other accessories in the SteamVR tribe, it offers compatibility across a range of headsets, including the Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Shiftall’s very own MeganeX superlight “8K”. If all goes according to plan, you can expect the GripVR to hit the shelves this summer, priced between $299 and $399.
### AddCon
Adding another feather to their cap, Shiftall introduced AddCon, a novel attachment for the left-hand Touch controllers of Quest 3/3S/Pro. This gadget provides a handy wheel and additional buttons, potentially making it simpler to manage 2D UI elements and VRChat-specific controls.
A standout feature of AddCon is a shift function, activated by a capacitive sensor located on the pinky finger rest, which allows users to switch between different command sets effortlessly. According to Shiftall, AddCon is perfect for users desiring extra control options, such as tweaking camera settings or managing avatar actions in VRChat. It supports over 14 assignable inputs, all customizable through a dedicated PC application, which doubles as an OSC command transmitter for standalone VRChat configurations.
Connection to the Quest system is accomplished via Bluetooth LE or GX6/GX2 dongle, and charging is handled through its USB Type-C port. Much like GripVR, the AddCon is eyeing a summer 2025 release, with a price tag set at $69 for the single left-hand Touch accessory.
This development follows last year’s buzz around their latest MeganeX superlight “8K” PC VR headset, expected to launch in early 2025 at a cost of $1,899. This headset is touted for its svelte, lightweight design and its dual 4K high-resolution OLED panels.
If you’ve been keeping up with our previous coverage, you might recall we put quotation marks around the “8K” label for the MeganeX superlight 8K. This is our way of noting that while the name suggests 8K, the headset’s actual specs consist of dual 3,552 × 3,840 OLEDs.
