There’s some buzz in the gaming world as NVIDIA’s planned release of the RTX 5060 series GPUs faces a slight delay. Originally anticipated to launch in March, these cards now see their release pushed back a few weeks.
GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Slated for April, Followed by RTX 5060 in May
Just ahead of unveiling the GeForce RTX 5070, whispers of setbacks for the RTX 5060 series are swirling. Word on the street was these highly awaited GPUs would become available in March and hit the shelves in April. But, if the latest reports hold true, we’ll be waiting a bit longer.
The exact reasons for these delays aren’t public, but insiders from Board Channels confirm that NVIDIA has updated all its partner boards about this shift. While nothing is set in stone and NVIDIA hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the overhaul, this information is building credibility. Previously, there were murmurs of bugs and supply chain hiccups being the culprits behind the holdup, though NVIDIA hasn’t corroborated these issues.
NVIDIA has internally reached out to its AIC partners via email about the deferment of the RTX 5060 Ti / 5060 lineup. Brands have been informed of the delays, with the RTX 5060 Ti models now expected in mid-April. This means the RTX 5060 series won’t hit until mid-May. We’re waiting on NVIDIA for more detailed timings.
So, what does this mean for enthusiasts? The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti might hit the scene around mid-April, and a month later, we could see the GeForce RTX 5060. It’s presumed both versions of the RTX 5060 Ti will debut together. Official launch dates are still under wraps, even for NVIDIA’s closest partners.
Interestingly, this delay could align NVIDIA’s release with AMD’s rollout of their RX 9060 series, which includes the RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 models. The latter will offer 8 GB and 16 GB options, potentially making them direct rivals to the 8 GB and 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti cards. While AMD hasn’t pinned down their release either, they’re also expected to drop their cards in Q2.
These new cards represent a significant upgrade in NVIDIA’s lineup. The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti aims to fill the shoes of the RTX 4060 Ti, boasting 4608 CUDA Cores, options of 8 or 16 GB GDDR7 VRAM, and a 180W TDP. Meanwhile, the RTX 5060 is set to succeed the RTX 4060 with 3840 CUDA Cores, 8 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, and a TDP of 150W. Surprisingly, there have been leaks hinting at a 12 GB VRAM version, which could give it an edge over the RX 9060 series that’s only touting an 8 GB model—definitely something worth keeping an eye on.
