As the once-popular PlayStation Vita fades quietly into history, much like a fleeting memory in the rain, some of its standout titles are resurfacing on modern platforms. Among them, the action RPG from 2012, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny, is set to get a fresh lease of life with a remastered version launching in the coming months. Interestingly, despite its original exclusivity to the Vita, this remaster will not grace any PlayStation platform.
In a move that might surprise some, the remastered edition, aptly named Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny Remastered, is gearing up for a release on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on May 22. As with many remasters, this version promises to deliver the classic game with enhanced graphics, a redesigned user interface, new game mechanics, and, for the first time, English localization.
Moreover, the remastered game is set to include numerous quality-of-life improvements, making gameplay more user-friendly. Among these are refined tuning, an updated mission selection system, and a lock-on mode to streamline battles. For those eager to see the transformations, the trailer offers a glimpse into this updated cult classic.
The game invites players to step into the shoes of a soldier during tumultuous times, offering a choice between three factions: Earth Alliance, Z.A.F.T., or Archangel. Players will engage in story missions drawn from memorable moments in the series like Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, along with side stories such as Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: STARGAZER. With over 100 mobile suits at their disposal, players can customize their mechs for exhilarating Gundam battles.
For those PlayStation enthusiasts who also own a Nintendo Switch or a gaming PC, preorders for the PC version are available now, with preorders for the Switch version set to open soon.
