PlayStation PC Games No Longer Require a PSN Account

When Sony first decided to bring some of its exclusive games to the PC, the gaming community was buzzing with anticipation. But that excitement hit a bit of a speed bump when players realized they needed a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to dive into these experiences. However, in a refreshing twist, Sony recently updated its policy to allow players to enjoy a selection of PlayStation games on PC without the mandatory PSN account.

In an announcement shared on the PlayStation Blog, Asad Qizilbash offered insights into new in-game rewards coming to four PlayStation titles on PC: God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, the much-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. While it’s great news that PSN accounts will be optional from tomorrow, Qizilbash clarified that those looking to unlock new bonuses or collect trophies will still need an account.

“Starting with the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC tomorrow, we’re planning to expand the benefits of linking a PlayStation Network account,” Qizilbash shared. “The Last of Us Part II Remastered, set for release on April 3, 2025, will also support these perks, along with God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.”

He elaborated, “While you won’t need a PSN account to play these titles on PC, choosing to link one will offer extras like trophies and friend management features.”

This update should come as a relief for PC gamers who have been navigating this contentious requirement since Helldivers 2 dropped last year. Although skipping the account might mean missing out on some sweet perks, at least players now have the freedom to decide without the pressure of signing up for yet another account.

For those who do choose to sign up for a PSN account, here’s a peek at what’s in store with these games:

• Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Unlock exclusive suits—Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and Miles Morales 2099 Suit—early.

• God of War Ragnarok: Snag the Armor of the Black Bear set for Kratos at the first Lost Items chest in the Realm Between Realms, along with a bundle of 500 Hacksilver and 250 XP.

• The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered: Get an extra 50 points to activate bonus features and grab Jordan’s Jacket from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as a skin for Ellie.

• Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: Rock the Nora Valiant outfit.
