In the midst of a tough economic climate marked by soaring inflation and unstable exchange rates, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has opted to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PlayStation 5 in certain regions across Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), Australia, and New Zealand.
From April 14, the updated RRPs for the PS5 will be as follows:
For Europe, the PS5 Digital Edition will now be priced at €499.99, with no changes for the standard PS5 equipped with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive. Over in the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition will see a price tag of £429.99, again leaving the standard version unaffected by changes.
In Australia, the price for the standard PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive is set at AUD $829.95, and the PS5 Digital Edition will be AUD $749.95. Moving to New Zealand, gamers will find the standard version priced at NZD $949.95, while the Digital Edition will cost NZD $859.95.
It is important to note that prices for the PS5 Pro remain stable and unchanged. Meanwhile, on the upside, there is a price drop for the Disc Drive accessory for the PS5. Effective April 14, the new prices will be €79.99 in Europe, £69.99 in the UK, AUD $124.95 in Australia, and NZD $139.95 in New Zealand.
