Stress Level Zero has struck gold with BONELAB (2022) on the Quest, but fans of the groundbreaking physics title BONEWORKS (2019) know they’ve been missing out on the latest standalone hardware from Meta. Thankfully, we’re on the verge of a change in that narrative.
For those who haven’t experienced it on a PC VR setup, Boneworks is more than just a game; it’s an intense VR action-adventure that leverages experimental physics to craft a dynamic experience. You’ll find yourself seamlessly navigating various environments while partaking in physics-based combat and approaching puzzles with a whole new level of ingenuity.
Recently, Brandon Laatsch, a co-founder of the studio, shared an exciting update via an X post. He laid out ambitious targets for 2025, revealing that they’re not only enhancing the Marrow Engine, which they built for the Unity engine, but they’re also gearing up to launch Boneworks for both Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
Take a moment to watch Boneworks rock the Quest 3 right here:
‘25 goals: Release Patch 7, 8, 9 for Bonelab with Marrow 2, 2.1, 2.2. Bring Boneworks to Quest 3 in parallel on Marrow 2. Pre-production for the next game. By x-linking Marrow, we’re aiming for compatibility. Boneworks is the nearest kin but is still tricky. Godspeed, SLZ! pic.twitter.com/siesw8yP6o

Laatsch noted that the development of Marrow 2.0 and Boneworks for Quest 3 is proceeding simultaneously, with pre-production for their next game already underway.
Interestingly, if you’re a Quest user eager to dive into Boneworks, there’s already an option. A community-driven mod named ‘Labworks’ enables gameplay on Quest 2 and newer models.
Moreover, Laatsch confirmed they have no intention of removing Labworks, which was meticulously crafted over two years by indie modder ‘volx64’. He reassures players that the forthcoming Marrow Engine will catalyze significant advancements for Boneworks, far beyond an ordinary port.
As we wait for official release dates, we’ll be keeping a close eye on Laatsch’s X feed and the studio’s YouTube updates for the latest news.
