With the arrival of a fresh season in Overwatch 2, players can look forward to an exciting array of new skins, made even more thrilling with the possible comeback of loot boxes. During Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 Spotlight presentation this past Wednesday, fans were treated to a sneak peek of the cosmetics coming in season 15 and beyond. Among the highlights were new Mythic skins and a delightful theme inspired by the magical girl genre, or “mahou shoujo” as it’s known in Japan.
In a surprising twist, Blizzard also unveiled an incredibly rare new legendary skin for the character Venture, which had fans buzzing.
This season, Overwatch 2 introduces a Mythic skin for Zenyatta, taking inspiration from the Chinese mythological creature pixiu, which is part lion, part dragon. Several other characters, including Hanzo, Kiriko, Moira, Orisa, Reinhardt, and Sigma, will also sport Chinese-themed skins. This timing isn’t accidental—Overwatch 2 is gearing up for its return to the Chinese market next month after a hiatus of more than two years. The game was previously unavailable due to a dispute between Blizzard and its Chinese publisher, NetEase, dating back to 2022.
Now, let’s dive into the real reason you’re here: the skins. Season 15 offers an exciting blend of cosmetics available through the in-game shop and the battle pass. Expect to see the Toxic Venture look and plenty more.
For rainy days, you can snag themed cosmetics for characters like Mei, Mercy, Kiriko, Orisa (with a fresh take on her Rubber Ducky skin), and Tracer (showing off a new version of her Graffiti skin). Some of these Rainy Day skins can be earned through gameplay, so you’ll be well-prepared for any April showers.
Widowmaker is set to receive season 15’s Mythic weapon skin, characterized by a sleek design that, admittedly, looks a bit awkward to wield, complete with an excessive number of spider eyes.
Looking ahead to season 16, Blizzard showcased a new Mythic weapon skin concept for Reaper. This design cleverly mirrors his dual nature, featuring two uniquely styled shotguns—definitely a fitting look for his character.
To top it off, Blizzard has alerted Overwatch fans to start saving their coins or cash for a magical lineup of Dokiwatch skins. These Sailor Moon-inspired outfits will embellish characters like Juno, Kiriko, Brigitte, Mercy, Widowmaker, D.Va, and the newbie, Freja, with charming and intricate designs.
For those eager for more than just cosmetics, Overwatch 2 players can anticipate a slew of gameplay updates, including fresh perks and an all-new Stadium game mode, which promise to keep the excitement going while waiting for Dokiwatch to make its debut in a future season.
