Some of the maps in Overwatch 2 have some interesting quirks that players can exploit, and one such peculiarity has become the center of attention due to a recent incident involving the Esperanca Push map. In this humorous turn of events, a D.Va player got themselves entirely stuck behind a tree, needing rescue from an enemy Reinhardt and a Lifeweaver to finally break free.
The map Esperanca was released alongside the brand new game mode when Overwatch 2 launched back in 2022. Despite the map no longer being new, as it’s been around for quite a while, it’s clips like the one in question that highlight how players can still uncover unusual features in maps years after they’re launched. For a long time, the community has critiqued Overwatch 2’s monetization approach. However, this sequel has rolled out far more content and updates than its predecessor, from fresh cosmetics to new maps and even heroes. The year 2024 saw some rich additions to the game, including two fresh maps specifically made for Overwatch 2’s new Clash mode.
Season 15 of Overwatch 2 is packed with fresh content which takes the game’s play experience several notches up, yet the year 2025 hasn’t seen any new maps added to the game so far. However, an amusing clip shared by a player named French_Taylor recently made the rounds. It shows how a player, using the baby D.Va mech, found themselves thoroughly stuck behind a tree on the Esperanca map. The player managed to get stuck by standing behind this specific tree near the center of the map after summoning their mech. Once suited up, the player discovered that D.Va couldn’t squeeze back out due to the larger size of the mech model.
A particularly amusing interaction follows, as the trapped D.Va gained some help from an enemy Reinhardt, who tried to destroy the mech to free her. Luckily, a Lifeweaver was around and lent a hand by using their Petal Platform to elevate the D.Va, assisting in their escape. This quirky problem has likely been possible since the map’s introduction, yet it remains a minor concern because getting trapped there isn’t a common occurrence. That said, other tanks and heroes with bigger hitboxes might also find themselves in the same predicament under certain conditions, especially if hit by abilities like Lifeweaver’s Life Grip or Roadhog’s ultimate.
Getting stuck isn’t new in the Overwatch maps; players have found similar situations in the past. Blizzard occasionally rolls out minor updates to address these issues when they arise. Regardless, this particular clip amusingly serves as a gentle reminder to D.Va enthusiasts everywhere: always be mindful of your environment when calling down the mech and suiting up!
