NVIDIA enthusiasts might find themselves in for a bit of a wait if they’re hoping to snap up the RTX 5090 or 5080 GPUs from Overclockers UK. In fact, it could be several weeks or even months before these much-coveted graphics cards make a return.
NVIDIA RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Pre-orders Halted: Expect RTX 5090 in 3–16 Weeks and RTX 5080 in 2–6 Weeks
When NVIDIA rolled out the RTX 50 series, it quickly turned into what you might call a ‘paper launch.’ Many retailers didn’t even get a single RTX 5090 in stock, let alone the hundreds of units that eager buyers were hoping for. For those lucky enough to snag one, inventories were wiped clean just moments after the embargo lifted. The RTX 5080 didn’t fare much better — quickly selling out despite slightly more availability and offering a less impressive generational upgrade.
Anyone keen on securing these cards is going to need patience. Overclockers UK has officially paused pre-orders for both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. Translation: even if you’re ready to get your place in line, you’ll have to sit tight. But when can enthusiasts expect a restock?
According to Overclockers UK, the RTX 5090 might be back between 3 to 16 weeks from now, with the RTX 5080 anticipated in 2 to 6 weeks. If it stretches to the full 16 weeks for the RTX 5090, potential buyers are looking at getting their hands on it just before mid-2025 — think May. By then, both the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 should already be on shelves, with the 5070 Ti expected on February 20th and the 5070 following in March.
RTX 50 Series Stock Update 31/01/2025 Stock Update RTX 5090 sold out and pre-orders ceased RTX 5080 sold out and pre-orders ceased Due to incredibly high demand and limited stock, all 50 Series cards sold shortly after launch with some pre-orders taken in restricted quantities. Stock ETAs are as follows:-
RTX 5090 ETA: 3-16 Weeks
RTX 5080 ETA: 2-6 Weeks– Overclockers UK
On a hopeful note, the RTX 5080 could reappear within just a month. We observed it had a relatively better global presence than the 5090, but nowhere near enough to satisfy demand. While it doesn’t boast the impressive enhancements of the 5090, its retention of the RTX 4080’s pricing drew a crowd nonetheless.
In some parts of the world, people queued outside stores, and retailers even resorted to lottery systems, offering the slim chance to spend thousands on one of these elusive GPUs. If you’ve placed an order with Overclockers UK but haven’t received confirmation, your purchase might be at a standstill in the pre-order queue.
This supply crunch explains why Overclockers UK has halted pre-orders for now. It’s still uncertain how long it will take for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 to populate other retailers’ inventories globally, but don’t count on them showing up any time soon.
