Recently, a wave of concerns has hit the gaming community as numerous reports surfaced about GeForce RTX 5090 GPUs becoming unresponsive. NVIDIA, the company behind these powerful graphics cards, has taken notice and decided to look into the situation.
For several days now, there have been mounting claims about malfunctioning RTX 5090s, including the Chinese variant known as the RTX 5090D. Users have been scrambling to find a fix, trying a variety of methods, but unfortunately, most have come up short. While a few have managed to address the issue with unorthodox solutions, the majority are still wrestling with non-functional GPUs.
Recognizing the widespread nature of the problem, NVIDIA has stepped in. In a nod to their concern, the company stated to PC Gamer:
“We are investigating the reported issues with the RTX 50 series.”
Though NVIDIA’s response was brief and lacked specifics, it’s a sign that they’re taking these reports seriously. For those who haven’t been following, the issue involves the RTX 5090 and 5090D failing to power up the monitor display, resulting in black screens following the latest driver update.
The trouble seems to start as soon as users install the newest NVIDIA driver. It’s become quite a multifaceted issue, as even reverting to a previous driver version hasn’t helped in many cases. Some users report that after resetting the BIOS, their GPUs still remain unrecognized both in the Device Manager and BIOS.
While the exact cause remains a mystery, some suggest that it may be linked to architectural or driver compatibility problems rather than the hardware itself. For now, all eyes are on NVIDIA to see how they plan to tackle this perplexing problem, as a permanent solution to this GPU predicament is yet to be found.
