Glover is making a nostalgic comeback on the Nintendo Switch, marking its entry into the console courtesy of Interactive Studios, Piko Interactive, and QUByte Interactive. You might recognize Interactive Studios as the former Dizzy Entertainment or later, Blitz Games – a company birthed in 1990 by gaming pioneers the Oliver Twins, Andrew and Philip Oliver. Gamers will slip into the role of Glover in this 3D puzzle platformer, navigating various levels to skillfully guide a ball from start to finish.
Originally crafted by the talented team at Interactive Studios and released back in 1998 with Hasbro Interactive for the Nintendo 64, Glover also made its way to the original PlayStation under the Atari Interactive label. Fast forward to 2025, and QUByte Interactive’s QUByte Classic series gifts us the opportunity to experience the enchanting Crystal Kingdom once more on the Nintendo Switch.
In our quest, we are tasked with finding the lost crystals that energize this magical realm. An unfortunate wizardly mishap involving potions results in an explosion, sending both the crystals and Glover flying. Quick-thinking Glover transforms the crystals into rubber balls to soften their impact. Glover is one half of a magical glove duo that assists the wizard; however, the other glove, Glovel, ends up in a cauldron, corrupting it into the villainous Cross-Stitch.
Adventurers will journey through six intriguing worlds, including Atlantis, Carnival, Pirates, Prehistoric, Fortress of Fear, and Out of This World. Completionists will be challenged to conquer all levels, collect elusive Garibs, and finish each of the six hidden bonus stages.
Players control the charming Glover using the left analog stick, with the right stick adjusting the camera. The X button lets you zoom, while the A button enables jumping and double-jumping. Dribble the ball using the B button, and a swift press of ZR activates a ground pound maneuver. Standing on or grabbing the ball are achieved with the L and B buttons, respectively, and changing the ball’s form requires pressing the R button. These mechanics take Glover through an engaging journey, with secrets awaiting your discovery within the game.
Originally part of Interactive Studios’ 1998 lineup, Glover’s revival onto the Switch is a nostalgic trip back to the charming Crystal Kingdom’s realm. After your adventure, remember to explore the Extras section, which hosts a Gallery displaying art of bosses, characters, and concepts—offering additional insight into Glover’s universe. Priced at $19.99, Glover is ready for a new generation of players and those who wish to reminisce.
For fans of classic platformers with an old-school flair, Glover offers a slice of gaming history ripe for revisiting.
