Imagine this: Fortnite’s latest addition is not the result of a wild imagination or an elaborate media stunt, although it does happen to be a clever marketing move for an American sneaker brand. Epic Games has just rolled out a new cosmetic feature called Kicks. This exciting update lets players style their characters with different shoes, giving them the freedom to sport their favorite kicks, even if that means Zuko from Avatar can now rock a pair of Nike sneakers while battling it out in the royale.
With the introduction of Kicks, Fortnite offered an initial lineup of footwear that came in two waves. The first drop boasted four unique pairs, each with its own price tag. You can snag classic white leather Nike sneakers for 800 V-bucks, but if you’re feeling more adventurous, the cosmic-themed high tops are available for 1,000 V-bucks. And let’s not overlook the Chomp Stompers, adorable shark slippers for just 600 V-bucks, which, in my opinion, steal the show.
The venture into virtual sneakers isn’t exactly cheap, though. Players quickly noticed the steep pricing, considering 1,000 V-bucks cost around $8.99. Plus, the selection is limited to certain Fortnite characters, so while you can jazz up Satoru Gojo and John Wick with cool footwear, poor Avatar Aang is left out of the fun. Nevertheless, players have enough options to create some outlandishly fun looks, blending characters and shoes for that extra dash of humor on the battlefield.
