After taking more than a year off due to health concerns, professional wrestler Kenny Omega made a triumphant return to the ring at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th. To celebrate this big moment, he unveiled a fresh entrance theme created by two iconic figures in the gaming world.
Omega took to X (what we used to call Twitter) to share his excitement. “Before my grand comeback tomorrow, I’ve got something special lined up for my entrance at the Tokyo Dome,” he teased. “I’ve got a new track composed by the incredible Masayoshi Soken from Final Fantasy 14 & 16. It features vocals from Jason Miller and a very special appearance by none other than the legendary Nobuo Uematsu. I really hope you all love it.”
The event, co-produced by New Japan Pro Wrestling among others, saw Omega’s entrance broadcast live on pay-per-view, with clips shared on social media.
Amidst the crowd’s roaring excitement, if you listen carefully, you’ll catch Soken’s signature style. The orchestral flair rises and falls alongside powerful vocals, creating a stunning piece that’s a perfect fit for the epic moments in a Final Fantasy 14 raid or a significant scene in Final Fantasy 16. While I’m not completely certain it was Nobuo Uematsu’s voice, I like to think it was him gearing up Omega as the wrestling phenom strutted down the ramp.
And just to spoil the ending a bit for you, Omega clinched the victory. After all, who could lose with the empowering vibes of Final Fantasy music cheering them on?
