After September’s successful launch of Iron Meat, the dedicated folks at Retroware have been rolling up their sleeves, eager to pave the way forward with some major content updates for their beloved retro-inspired game.
The first sizable update has just landed on Xbox, bringing with it an exciting mix of new features just waiting to be explored!
### Mirror, Mirror
Among the most eagerly anticipated additions is Mirror Mode, a new twist that flips each level on its x-axis. Though it might sound simple, this change invites players to tackle every enemy and boss encounter from a fresh perspective. Mirror Mode becomes available after you conquer the game once, at any difficulty level.
### Red Rapid Fire
Next up, we have the new automatic Supercharge upgrade, taking weapon enhancements to a “third” tier. When active, this upgrade transforms your projectiles to a striking red hue, regardless of your weapon’s current color status. If your guns are maxed out with green shots, grabbing a duplicate unlocks this powerful upgrade, giving your arsenal a fiery boost.
### My 1UPs, Thank You
In a move that’ll delight many players, this update ensures you keep any extra lives you earn within a level as you progress. Now, finishing a level with more lives than you started allows you to carry those extras forward.
### Visual Enhancements to Level Backgrounds
We’ve also given some of the level backgrounds a visual spruce-up, adding details that deepen the narrative essence of Iron Meat. Notable tweaks include a sequence with helicopter attacks on forest-dwelling Meat monsters, added danger to the Base midboss with spikes, and explosive meteor-like impacts on the Train level.
### Other Updates
Beyond bug squashing, a few additional tweaks have been made:
– Boosted the damage of the “E”, “U”, and “M” weapons.
– Enriched certain scenes with more Meat on the Moon Base.
– Clarified attack patterns for the MI-24 helicopter boss.
– Made subtle adjustments across all levels to ensure fairness, such as making Meat worms on the Base destroyable upon sight and changes to Meat Mouth Doors on Train.
We’re eager to offer you a glimpse of what’s yet to come for Iron Meat. There’s a plethora of content lined up for future updates, and we can’t wait to share more with you down the track. Dive into Iron Meat today and enjoy the ride!
