IO Interactive, the team behind the Hitman series, has decided to part ways with Conor McGregor, the well-known mixed martial artist.
This announcement came through Twitter after a court ruling in a civil case where McGregor was accused of rape. The studio clarified that the gravity of the situation couldn’t be disregarded. McGregor’s involvement with the game was through Hitman’s The Disruptor DLC.
Here’s what IO Interactive shared: “In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately. We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications,” the company stated solemnly.
Following this decision, the studio is in the process of removing all McGregor-related content from their digital storefronts, starting right away.
