Game Source Entertainment, in partnership with Tokyo Virtual Theory (TVT), has revealed that their eagerly anticipated rhythm roguelike action game, Ratatan, will soon be hitting the Nintendo Switch platform.
This game is seen as a spiritual successor to the cherished Patapon, previously crafted by Japan Studio and Pyramid. Set on a vibrant island called Rataport, Ratatan weaves a story of a land bustling with life, reminiscent of a playful toy box, yet surrounded by the calming expanse of the sea. This is the home of Ratatan, an unusual creature with animal-like characteristics, who enjoys a cheerful existence alongside its friends, known as the Cobun.
Despite their varied looks and personalities, these creatures are united by a singular aspiration: to journey to The Everafter and encounter The Goddess who resides there. Their pursuit is relentless, and regardless of how many setbacks they face, they remain committed to achieving their dream of meeting her someday.
The game’s development sees the renowned Patapon series producer, Hiroyuki Kotani, once again at the helm. Players take on the role of Ratatan, wielding magical instruments to produce beats that guide the Cobun armies in attacking their foes. Master the rhythm, and you’ll activate Fever Mode, transforming the gameplay experience as the background music dynamically changes and characters display unique actions.
Look out for Ratatan, available digitally on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2025.
