As of today, PlayStation 5 gamers who pre-ordered the Darktide Imperial Edition can finally jump into the action. And for everybody else, mark your calendars: the game is set to be available for all PS5 players come December 3.
Darktide originally made waves when it launched for PC back in November 2022. Since then, our team has been on overdrive, rolling out nine major updates plus an impressive lineup of over 25 content updates and improvements. The PS5 release is perfectly timed with our landmark 10th major update, Grim Protocols. But trust me, there’s a lot more excitement planned down the line!

For many years, we at Fatshark dreamt of crafting a game set in the vast Warhammer 40,000 universe. With Darktide, we’ve finally achieved that dream. This action-packed, four-player co-op game thrusts you into the shoes of a conscripted convict—known as a Reject—tasked with aiding the Inquisition to reclaim the city of Tertium from the grasp of Chaos. Get ready to switch between melee and ranged battles thanks to the hybrid combat system we’ve refined to a sharp point.
### Bringing Darktide to PS5 and PS5 Pro
In our efforts to develop Darktide for the PS5, we were driven by one goal: delivering an unparalleled gaming experience. We meticulously adapted the game to take full advantage of PS5’s powerful hardware. Players have the flexibility to toggle between Performance mode at 60FPS with 1440p resolution and Quality mode at 30FPS with stunning 4K. And for the PS5 Pro owners, we have employed PSSR technology to deliver a solid 60FPS at 4K resolution.
Our team also dedicated significant time to mastering the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. We aimed to make the DualSense controller an integral part of the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide universe. Whether you’re unleashing explosive rounds with the iconic Boltgun or channeling psyker powers with a Force Staff, every weapon offers a unique feel when you swap gear.
Automatic weapons deliver an unmatched experience, too, with the DualSense’s haptic rumble and trigger effects. It’s mesmerizing to feel the triggers vibrate with each shot or sense the rumble echoing through the controller. And when you’re running low on ammo, expect those triggers to intensify, giving you a heads-up before it’s time to reload. Experience the visceral pleasure of the Chainsword revving through heretics and demons when the game launches on December 3. We can’t wait for you to feel these sensations for yourself.
### Unlock Your Potential
To make sure you feel right at home in Tertium, we’ve packed the character creator with extensive options so you can personalize your Reject, tailoring everything from class and appearance to background story and voice. We want each player to carve out a personal space within the world and its unfolding conflict.
Each class boasts a detailed talent tree, allowing deeper customization of your play style across three main domains or sub-classes. Our Itemization overhaul further expands your choices, offering progression within each of the 40-plus weapon families you wish to master.
