The Canadian game development studio, Humanoid Origin, is unfortunately shutting down. This announcement was made public through a LinkedIn post, where the studio explained its struggles against the “broader challenges” that have been affecting the gaming industry. Despite their best efforts, they couldn’t secure the necessary funding to continue their operations.
Founded in 2021 by Casey Hudson, the former general manager at BioWare, Humanoid Origin had ambitious goals. They dreamed of bringing an exciting new science-fiction universe to life. “It’s a deep disappointment that we can’t see our sci-fi universe fully realized,” the studio expressed in their announcement. “Right now, our priority is ensuring our team members find new opportunities, and we are dedicated to helping them transition to new jobs.”
The studio also took a moment to appreciate their talented team. “During our time together, we made remarkable progress, proving that great things can happen when fun and creativity are at the heart of our work environment. We’re grateful for their talent, bravery, and camaraderie,” they added. This closure marks a somber end, but the legacy of Humanoid Origin’s innovative spirit and dedication to its people remains.
