SNEG has officially unveiled the release date for the much-anticipated Captain Blood adventure game on the Nintendo Switch.
Originally slated for launch on the Xbox 360 way back in 2010, the game encountered significant hurdles when its publisher went bankrupt, and legal entanglements paused any further developments. Fast forward 15 years, and those roadblocks have finally been cleared, bringing the game closer to enthusiasts everywhere.
In Captain Blood, the story kicks off when the daughter of the local magistrate is kidnapped. Swallowing his pride, the magistrate turns to Captain Blood and his crew for rescue. You’ll step into the boots of the “most daring pirate captain ever,” embarking on epic adventures filled with cannon blasts, pistol duels, and exhilarating sword fights that only the high seas can offer.
“Captain Blood is truly a homage to a different time in gaming, an era where you could dive into a compelling, linear, and QTE-rich game over a weekend and still have room to debate the upcoming console specs,” shares Artem Shchuiko, co-founder of SNEG. “Every bit of effort and enthusiasm has been poured into this project, from the original developers to our team at SNEG Ltd. We know gamers, of all ages, have been missing that old-school pirate escapade, and finally, it’s here!”
The developers have detailed the game’s standout features:
Epic Pirate Shenanigans: Step into the role of Captain Blood, the gallant pirate bold enough to make a splash (or at least appear to!) on the Spanish Main.
Retro Gaming Vibes: Enjoy the nostalgic Xbox 360-era graphics, thrilling quick-time events, and those beloved features from 2010 that have been refreshed yet still retain their classic charm.
Intense Action: Engage in fierce combat, proving your mettle to both rival pirates and landlubbers with a variety of skillful fighting techniques.
Ship Deck Brawls: Defend your vessel from enemy boarders with spectacular moves, combos, and special executions while blasting their ships into oblivion!
Arsenal of Awesomeness: Equip yourself with swords, pistols, muskets, throwing knives, and hand bombs. And of course, embrace those clever pirate tactics!
Captain Blood is set to make its digital debut on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch globally on May 6, 2025.
