The first significant Monster Hunter Wilds update is just around the corner, and if you’re seeking a fresh challenge or have a penchant for speedrunning, you’re in for a treat. Arena Quests, known for their time trial approach that challenges you to take down monsters as swiftly as possible, are about to make their debut in this acclaimed RPG. As Title Update 1 is set to launch later this week, Capcom has issued a stern warning to those considering cheating in these timed challenges, emphasizing that cheats will face account restrictions and suspensions.
Even as 2025 is gearing up with several blockbuster titles, Monster Hunter Wilds has already solidified its reputation as one of the must-play new PC games of the year. The upcoming Title Update 1 promises to enhance this phenomenal RPG even further, with its competitive, time-based quests stealing the spotlight. These quests not only test your mastery of in-game weapons and creatures but also push you to become the quickest and most efficient slayer. Completing these quests swiftly can earn you rewards, but for those who truly excel, there’s the lure of prestigious rankings on global leaderboards.
The centerpiece of this update, Arena Quests, challenges solo players or pairs to defeat a specific monster as fast as possible using a pre-selected set of equipment. You can choose your gear from this limited selection and adjust your setup before the hunt begins, but once you confront that monster, there’s no turning back. Be aware that any active status or meal effects will be removed during the competition.
There are also timed Challenge Quests with similar rules and more flexible Free Challenge Quests, where you can pick any gear and participate with up to four players instead of just two.
With valuable rewards at stake and the integrity of online leaderboards on the line, Capcom has released a strong caution against cheating.
“To maintain a fair and enjoyable experience, we will take action against accounts involved in fraudulent ranking activities, such as using cheats or external tools,” Capcom states. “Accounts found violating these terms may face suspensions or restrictions, such as being ineligible for quest rewards.
“Furthermore, if any team members are identified as cheating in a multiplayer hunt, the completion time will be voided, and the party’s rewards can be revoked. We urge players to be cautious and avoid teaming up with those suspected of dishonest practices.”
While the fear of severe penalties might deter some potential cheaters, it will be intriguing to see how prevalent the issue becomes with the launch of Arena Quests. Hopefully, the leaderboards won’t require constant adjustments due to disqualified times and instead reflect exceptional new records set by the best players out there.
Arena Quests and other timed trials are set to launch in the Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 1 on the evening of Wednesday, April 3, for those in PDT and EDT regions, and early morning on Thursday, April 4, for BST and CEST. Capcom has clarified the dates but not the exact release times for players in these regions.
