There’s a thrilling buzz in the air as a new Borderlands 4 trailer is confirmed to be in the works, though technically it wasn’t supposed to be revealed just yet.
We’ve all had those moments where we spill the beans accidentally, but you’d expect the CEO of a major gaming company to be a tad more careful. But if you know anything about Gearbox’s CEO Randy Pitchford, you’ll know he has a unique flair for doing things his way. Just yesterday, he let slip some exciting news on Twitter: “Cooking up a new Borderlands 4 trailer and it’s badass af,” he excitedly tweeted. “I’m not supposed to talk about it yet, but idgaf. I’M FREAKING OUT, yo.” Responding to a follower who asked for a hint, he cheekily shared a GIF, hinting that the trailer’s opening scenes will mirror the teaser’s closing shots, adding, “Yes, I’m a troll and a tease. Deal with it.”
Pitchford openly acknowledged his slip-up, musing about the potential ramifications. “Why did I spill the beans? Only I know,” he later replied, recognizing that he essentially bypassed his marketing and comms teams’ strategies. Despite this, he playfully defended his antic with a “what are you gonna do!” attitude. The funny part? If you’re within Gearbox walls, you might have gotten tasked with giving him a friendly nudge, questioning his impulse to blurt out this trailer scoop.
Later, Pitchford humorously commented, “So… my phone is blowing up,” acknowledging the frenzy his tweet ignited. In classic Pitchford style, he followed up with, “My bad. Sorry. Not sorry,” firmly stating he wouldn’t be deleting his post, and joked, “If you don’t hear from me in a week, please call 911.”
Considering the year is winding down, it’s a solid bet that the much-anticipated Borderlands 4 trailer might grace audiences at The Game Awards, happening soon on December 12 at 7:30pm ET. With so little time left, fans of the franchise are surely waiting with bated breath.
