Renowned for its handheld consoles, Ayaneo has just pulled back the curtain on its latest flagship, the Ayaneo 3. This new console takes everything people loved about its predecessor and dials it up with a slew of hardware enhancements, while still maintaining the familiar design and button setup fans appreciate.
According to their official blog, the Ayaneo 3 comes with some impressive customization choices. You can opt for the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor or go all out with the AMG Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 for more power under the hood. The console sports a seven-inch display that can be either a high-refresh LCD or an OLED HDR, promising an immersive visual experience. Plus, Ayaneo has added a couple of extra buttons on the back to expand control options for the players.
While we’re eager for more details, Ayaneo is keeping mum for now about specifics like RAM, storage options, and pricing. If we look at the Ayaneo 2 for clues, it came with either 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 512GB to a whopping 2TB. The pricing for its predecessor started at $1,099 and could go up to $1,549, so we’re bracing for similar or slightly higher pricing tiers for the Ayaneo 3.
This new addition is one of the first handhelds touting the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, which is a big deal. Although many current games might not yet tap into the NPU capabilities of this new processor, its boost in extra cores, Zen 5 architecture, and the integrated AMD Radeon 890M GPU certainly positions it as a powerhouse, potentially outclassing even some top-tier gaming PCs which primarily use the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
However, the Ayaneo 3 steps into a very competitive market landscape already brimming with choices. Gamers are eagerly awaiting the launch of other contenders like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two, which are expected to hit sometime this year or early 2025. It will be fascinating to see how Ayaneo 3 carves out its niche and delivers a unique experience within this crowded market.
