Among the many mods available for FromSoftware’s hit game Elden Ring, the seamless co-op mod by Yui stands out as a clear favorite. Now, this talented modder is bringing their magic touch to Dark Souls 3 as well.
When it comes to FromSoftware’s online multiplayer design choices, there’s a certain charm to how they subtly ease the game’s difficulty. After all, two players dodging and rolling through hazards together beats just one, right? However, teaming up with friends has its own set of challenges and can be pretty frustrating at times. That’s where Yui steps in. Best known for their seamless co-op mod in Elden Ring, and a similar modification for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Yui has embarked on another exciting project: a new seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls 3.
In a recent YouTube video, Yui gave fans a glimpse of this mod in action, showing off gameplay with a friend through the intricate twists and turns of Lothric Castle. (Heads up: if you’ve procrastinated playing Dark Souls 3 but plan to dive in someday, watch out for spoilers.) The video description outlines all the mod’s impressive features: it does away with multiplayer barriers, keeps you connected even after character deaths, and allows you and your friends to play from beginning to end without the hassle of resummoning or interruptions. Invasions? They’re optional and turned on by default. Plus, you can tweak the difficulty of enemies according to your preference. Basically, it offers everything you’d hope for in a co-op mod.
While there’s no release date just yet, patience is key. In the meantime, we can look forward to the release of Nightreign, the new Elden Ring game, expected later this year. Happily, it’s set to include seamless co-op options as well, in its own style as a boss-centric roguelite, promising plenty of replay value.
So, while we eagerly await Yui’s latest creation for Dark Souls 3, there’s plenty on the horizon to keep our enthusiasm alive.
