Recently, the web got a sneak peek at ASRock’s Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards, showcasing the upcoming custom models, Steel Legend and Taichi.
ASRock seems to be gearing up for a strong lineup featuring AMD’s RDNA 4 GPUs, specifically the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT. While we await official announcements from other AIB partners, some images of ASRock’s GPUs have surfaced online. These reveal three distinct offerings: the Steel Legend, Taichi, and Challenger models. Let’s start with the Taichi series—these appear to be the top-tier options from ASRock. The design boasts a stylish triple-fan setup accompanied by a robust heatsink, which explains its three-slot dimension.
What’s particularly intriguing about the Taichi version is its 12V-2×6 power connector. This isn’t a common feature across all RX 9070 models, as AMD has chosen to let AIB partners decide on its inclusion based on the power needs of each variant. This connector can deliver up to 600W, hinting at the Taichi model’s potential for high performance and overclocking.
The Steel Legend, on the other hand, seems to target the mid-range market with options in white and silver color schemes. It’s crafted with a 2.5-slot triple fan design but lacks the 12V-2×6 connector, favoring instead the 2x 8-pin standard. This choice aligns with AMD’s typical offerings for AIB models, reserving the more robust connectors for some higher-end versions like the Taichi.
As for when these models will hit the shelves, you might want to mark your calendar for next week. Rumor has it that’s when AMD plans to kick off pre-orders for the RX 9070 series GPUs.
