Mark your calendars—June 26 is the day when the game’s older versions will bid farewell during a scheduled maintenance period. Thankfully, transitioning to the updated version won’t cost a penny, and all player information and purchases will make a seamless journey to the new platform.

Brian Choi, the Black Desert Console Live Service Manager, has provided some comforting words amidst these changes: “Your game data will remain secure,” he assures. Regardless of when you decide to make the switch to the PS5 or the Xbox Series, your account details and any entitlements will be ready and waiting for you. While the news might sting for some dedicated gamers, it’s all in the name of progress. Black Desert has been on a mission to continuously enhance the adventurer’s journey.

Choi further explains, “Despite our ongoing efforts to optimize gameplay for the older consoles, hardware constraints have simply made it impractical to deliver the freshest content effectively.” After much thought, the decision was made to channel resources toward the PS5 and Xbox Series versions, prioritizing a smoother and more robust gaming experience.

Originally landing in the U.S. market in 2016, Black Desert Online stirred up a mix of feelings among reviewers. On Metacritic, it snagged an average score of 73 from 35 critics. It eventually made its way onto the PS4 and Xbox One in 2019, weaving itself into the fabric of many gamers’ lives.
