Apple is gearing up to introduce its suite of AI tools, known as Apple Intelligence, to the Vision Pro device. Scheduled for a public release in April with the rollout of visionOS 2.4, this update promises exciting additions for tech enthusiasts. However, if you’re a developer, you can dive into these features right away.
What exactly is in store? Apple Intelligence will bring a plethora of AI-driven features to Vision Pro, offering tools for writing, generating images, sending smart replies, conducting natural language searches in Photos, creating AI summaries, and even crafting personalized emojis. All these were unveiled on iOS and Mac since the initiative’s debut last October. Vision Pro, in particular, is set to enhance these by leveraging voice and hand-based text inputs, making interactions smoother and more intuitive.
One of the standout features of the upcoming Vision Pro update is its improved Guest User mode. This will allow users to share their headsets with others using an iPhone or iPad nearby. Demonstrating your cutting-edge tech just got simpler, as it aids in avoiding the usual confusion of figuring out which icon to tap – a common dance when showing off extended reality headsets.
VisionOS 2.4 is also set to introduce the Spatial Gallery. This is a curated trove of spatial photos, immersive videos, and panoramic views from talented artists, filmmakers, and photographers. It’s on schedule to launch in several regions, including Australia, Canada, Germany, and the United States, among others.
Furthermore, Vision Pro will soon enjoy closer integration with iOS systems. When visionOS 2.4 hits the market in April, users will be able to manage app and game downloads, explore spatial content, and check device details directly from an iPhone via a new app: the Apple Vision Pro iOS app, which coincides with the release of iOS 18.4.
At the moment, these features, powered by Apple Intelligence, will be launching in U.S. English. However, Apple plans to expand support to more languages as the year progresses.
While an exact release date hasn’t been pinned down beyond an April timeframe, eager developers can already access the beta version of visionOS 2.4. If you’d like to try it out, head to Settings, tap Privacy & Security, activate “Developer Mode”, and reboot your Vision Pro.
