Schell Games and Innersloth have shared some exciting news: Among Us VR (2022) is set to receive flatscreen support, making it possible for both VR and PC players to enjoy the game together.
The studios have also revealed that the VR game will undergo a name change to Among Us 3D. This update will bring a first-person viewpoint to PC gamers for the very first time.
Schell Games has announced that PC players using Among Us 3D will be able to seamlessly join cross-platform matchups with VR enthusiasts from across all supported devices, including Quest, SteamVR, PSVR 2, and Pico headsets.
However, it’s important to note that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the original 2D version of Among Us from 2018. This separation has been in place since Among Us VR first launched back in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, the Project Director at Schell Games, expressed his excitement about this development: “With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to introduce the first-person perspective to a broader audience. By bringing together VR and PC players, we’re offering even more opportunities to hilariously outwit your friends—the whole crew can jump into the action!”
The rebranding process will unfold over the coming months, according to the studios. This will include a series of updates that will impact store listings, online platforms, and the game’s branding elements.
Among Us 3D will also introduce a fresh in-game currency called ‘Stardust’. This currency will allow players to purchase cosmetic items, which the studios say will help support the game’s growth and development.
Although we don’t have a launch date just yet, it might not be too far off. Among Us 3D is set to make an appearance at Steam Next Fest, where players will have the chance to try out an exclusive early demo before the official launch.
