It seems Dragon Age: The Veilguard may have reached the end of its road in terms of major updates. According to recent statements from EA, the game has drawn in about 1.5 million players, falling short of its anticipated numbers by half. As a result, the publisher appears to be stepping back from any further post-launch support, just three months after the game’s release.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Update 5 Patch Notes
Bioware introduced the update 5 patch notes by stating they will only focus on monitoring for any critical bugs moving forward. This has led many to believe this might be the game’s final substantial update.
"We’re thrilled with the game’s stability at its release and hope you’ve benefitted from our Quality of Life patches since then," the patch notes mention. "Now, with a stable footing, our focus is shifting to catching and addressing any significant game-breaking issues should they arise."
While Bioware hasn’t outright confirmed it, everything about this communication suggests that this could indeed be the last update we see.
Here’s what’s included in the patch notes:
Quality of Life Changes:
- Side quests now come with recommended levels to help players avoid tackling them at a disadvantageously low level.
Bug Fixes:
- Addressed the problem where Rook could only have a flirtatious interaction with Lucanis during a specific conversation.
- Resolved an issue with the Regrets of The Dread Wolf quest not triggering properly, which previously left Rook blocked by an invisible boundary in the Crossroads.
- Fixed a snag with a puzzle in the Converged City part of the Crossroads.
- Corrected the "Imperium’s Resolve" armor, which was mistakenly dealing negative damage instead of zero damage across fire, cold, necrotic, and electric.
- Squashed excessive clipping issues with Taash’s “Rivain’s Legacy” armor.
- Mended a problem that prevented some Rooks from altering the runes on their lyrium daggers.
- Resolved a bug affecting the Medium Armor Mastery skill for Warriors.
- Fixed a glitch where Rook could end up in a perpetual drowning cycle on Rivain’s beach, unable to be rescued by companions.
- Corrected a typo on a note you can discover in Dock Town.
- Improved photo mode’s screenshot quality when HDR settings were active.
- Cleared up an issue where the screenshot location icon in photo mode remained visible on the screen.
- Resolved flickering fireflies in the opening area of the Crossroads when played under certain settings.
- Addressed a lighting issue in a group conversation that occurs in the Lighthouse.
- Fixed the block in the Mirror of Transformation that stopped players from zooming with the mouse scroll wheel.
- Resolved an issue where Objective Marker Visibility didn’t update when the exploration preset was changed alongside other options in the Exploration category.
- Made some tweaks to the game credits.
With these fixes and updates, Bioware aims to refine the playing experience, even as their role in actively developing new content for The Veilguard appears to wind down.
