Balatro, the addictive poker-themed roguelike, has hit a remarkable milestone, selling over five million copies. Harvey Elliott, CEO of publisher PlayStack, shared this exciting news at Pocket Gamer Connects London 2025, as covered by PocketGamer.biz. Elliott described this achievement as nothing short of “incredible.”
Just a few months ago, back in December, the game had reached 3.5 million copies sold. Its success streak was undoubtedly boosted by winning big at The Game Awards, enhancing its visibility and appeal.
Reflecting on this accomplishment, Elliott remarked, “Reaching five million sales for any game is truly worth celebrating. Achieving it in less than a year since launch is something else entirely, especially when we consider it was developed by a solo creator.”
He went on to express immense pride in LocalThunk, the developer behind Balatro, and praised the dedication of the entire PlayStack team. Their collective effort has undoubtedly helped the game to thrive and exceed expectations.
