As of January 21, Xbox Game Pass is set to welcome Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, marking its launch as a day one exclusive for Ultimate subscribers. This announcement follows earlier updates from Microsoft, which dropped the initial list of fresh Xbox Game Pass titles for January 2025 at the start of the month. However, many users felt there was room for more.
In the first half of January 2025, the Xbox Game Pass lineup was largely about moving Ultimate-exclusive games to the Standard tier, with only a few noteworthy additions like the classic Diablo for PC Game Pass and EA Sports UFC 5 for Ultimate subscribers. While Microsoft hasn’t officially rolled out the second batch of Xbox Game Pass titles for January 2025, we know Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders is joining the roster.
Set to debut on January 21, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders will immediately become available to Ultimate subscribers as a first-day launch game. This skiing adventure comes packed with both co-op and PvP modes, ramping up the excitement for its release day.

As much as Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders promises to be an exciting addition, it’s not the only new face in the latter half of January. The second half of the month brings a heavy-hitting lineup, including other day one releases like Eternal Strands on January 28, Sniper Elite: Resistance on January 30, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector on January 31.
Among these, Eternal Strands shines brightly, drawing interest with its action-adventure elements reminiscent of Zelda. Developed by Yellow Brick Games, led by BioWare alumnus Mike Laidlaw, this game is set to make waves. Game Pass Ultimate members can explore it, along with the other fresh entries for January 2025, without any additional costs outside their current subscription fee.
Looking ahead to February 2025, the lineup appears sparse thus far. Apart from Avowed, slated for a February 18 release on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, there’s little else confirmed. Meanwhile, Ultimate subscribers have plenty to keep them engaged in January, enjoying Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, Eternal Strands, and the rest of this month’s new offerings while awaiting February’s slate.
