Sanzaru Games, the creative force behind the Asgard’s Wrath series, has officially rolled out the ultimate content update for their Quest-exclusive title, Asgard’s Wrath 2 (2023). The studio is hinting at moving on to what they describe as their “next big thing.”
According to a recent report from MIXED, this update marks the last significant content addition to Asgard’s Wrath 2, the action-packed sequel that follows the groundbreaking original, Asgard’s Wrath, released exclusively for Rift in 2019.
The game’s final chapter, titled ‘The Long Winter,’ launched last week. This twelfth and concluding ‘Cosmic Event’ introduces another batch of monthly time-limited challenges, offering players the chance to rack up points and unlock unique cosmetic items.
Debuting in late 2023 for the Quest 2 and its successors, Asgard’s Wrath 2 boasts a hefty campaign with over 60 hours of gameplay, not including the additional monthly Cosmic Event content.
In an announcement on Sanzaru’s Discord channel, their Community Manager shared, “This will be our last major title update for Asgard’s Wrath 2. Moving forward, you’ll notice fewer updates, as our focus will shift to addressing major issues and bug reports. We wanted to be upfront—there are no future plans for new content development for Asgard’s Wrath 2.”
The studio further reveals they’re turning their attention to developing some “AWESOME stuff” and express their eagerness to unveil their next big endeavor to the community when the time is right.
Speculation on what Sanzaru will tackle next is wide open. Acquired by Meta (formerly known as Facebook) in 2020, the studio has been dedicated to crafting games exclusively for Meta’s line of XR headsets. With two extensive and impeccably refined RPGs under their belt, the studio’s expertise in the genre is well-established, leaving many eager to see what impressive project they will undertake next.
