It seems like the gaming world is buzzing with some intriguing rumors. Word on the street is that Xbox Game Studios might be planning to launch Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This is according to the latest whispers surrounding the upcoming successor to the beloved portable console.
Now, if you dive into the latest chat between renowned gaming insider NateDrake and his fellow podcaster Rand al Thor 19, things get even more interesting. When quizzed about Xbox’s potential involvement with the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, NateDrake let slip that Microsoft has grand 2025 plans. These plans apparently include launching both Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator on platforms like PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Catch the juicy details at the 53-minute mark, 48 seconds into their podcast, ‘Nate the Hate.’
NateDrake went on to say, “Microsoft is gearing up to be a major supporter of the Switch 2 when it hits the market.” He hinted that Microsoft plans to bring and enhance current Switch games with 4K support. Titles like Grounded, Pentiment, and the Ori series could potentially transition to Switch 2.
He speculated, “Don’t be too shocked if Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush make the jump too. We’re looking at a significant Microsoft presence on both Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 in the future. Flight Simulator and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are two top contenders I’ve heard should roll out in 2025.”
What’s still up in the air is whether the Halo port will bundle all the iconic games from Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary through to Halo 4 or if it might also include extras like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach, which joined The Master Chief Collection a bit later.
While the rumor mill churns on, officially, all we know is that Nintendo intends to lift the curtain on the Switch’s successor before March 2025. They’ve also assured everyone that their next-gen hardware will be backwards compatible with the original Switch.
As for when the Nintendo Switch 2 will make its grand entrance, we’re expecting a worldwide release sometime in 2025. Until then, gamers can only speculate and dream about the exciting possibilities ahead.
