Back in July, “Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable” made its debut in Early Access on the Quest platform. At launch, players were given a taste of what was to come with just one mission, or ‘chapter,’ and a handful of unlockable blades. It was the first glimpse at a broader experience that the developers, UNIVRS, promised would grow over time. Fast forward a bit, and now we have the ‘Complete Edition,’ which offers up a total of four chapters for players to sink their teeth into.
When I first tried it out in July, to be honest, it felt more like a tech demo than a full-fledged game. The core gameplay elements were there, sure, but you were restricted to a single chapter. Plus, there was an infinite wave mode with a leaderboard, but it felt more like a taster than the main course.
Now, with the Complete Edition out, there’s a lot more to explore. Part One has been expanded, allowing players to dive into chapters three and four, with an Epilogue to wrap things up. There’s also a massive showdown with an Armored Titan boss that promises to be quite the spectacle.
On top of that, for the first time, you can join a friend and tackle these chapters in co-op mode. This cooperative experience adds a whole new dimension to the game that many fans have been clamoring for.
UNIVRS is already looking ahead with plans for future content. They’ve hinted at a ‘Thunder Spear Unlock Event’ slated for January, pitching it as a “global challenge.” And, mark your calendars—there’s a free update scheduled for release in 2025, as detailed on the game’s official page.
Although our initial playthrough earlier in the year left us feeling the game was a bit “rough around the edges,” fans seem to have really embraced it. As of now, “Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable” holds a commendable 4.5 out of 5 stars on the Horizon Store, which is no small feat.
For those who got in on the action early by purchasing the Early Access version, Part 2 will be available as a free download. Newcomers will find some flexible purchasing options: Part 1 is priced at $8, Part 2 can be picked up for $12 (though you’ll need Part 1 to play), or you can snag both parts in a bundle for $20. The game is compatible with Quest 2, Quest 3/S, and Quest Pro, making it accessible to a wide range of VR enthusiasts.
