The much-anticipated “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate European Online Challenge: Winter Clash 2024” is gearing up to be an exciting event for fans across Europe. This online tournament, hosted within the popular Nintendo Switch game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, is organized by Nintendo of Europe SE, located in Frankfurt, Germany.
If you’re looking to join in, mark your calendars for Friday, December 6th. The action kicks off at 18:00 CET (that’s 17:00 for those in the UK) and runs until 20:00 CET. Gamers from Austria all the way to the UK can jump into the competition, spanning a wide array of European countries. However, folks in more remote areas like the Azores and Svalbard might encounter difficulties joining due to their distance from central Europe.
To jump into the fray, participants need a Nintendo Account linked to one of the approved countries and an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. Whether you’ve got a full membership or are using a free trial, you’re eligible. Simply fire up your Nintendo Switch, head to the “Online” section in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s main menu, and select “Official Tourney Qualifiers” to get started by completing at least one tournament match.
In terms of gameplay, the spotlight is on racking up the highest Tourney score. This score showcases a player’s skill, factoring in the match results and the skill ratings of opponents. Keep tabs on your standing anytime throughout the event right within the game. Participants can play as many matches as they like during the event window to boost their score, and even those matches started before the deadline but finished afterward will count.
Top scorers stand to win big. The 10 players with the standout scores will each net a prize of 2,500 My Nintendo Gold Points. Those who rank in the top 100 as the event wraps up won’t go empty-handed either, with 1,000 Gold Points up for grabs for each. However, ensure your country settings match one of the participating countries from start to finish, or risk disqualification. Any unfair play or behavior that breaches Nintendo’s Code of Conduct, including cheating or exploiting glitches, will lead to a disqualification—and could affect your Nintendo Account status.
Once the event concludes, Nintendo will dispatch the Gold Points to the winners’ Nintendo Accounts within two weeks. Check your My Nintendo Point Log to confirm you’ve received your prize.
It’s important to keep in mind that Nintendo’s Account Agreement, Privacy Policy, and terms of their Rewards Programme are in effect. So, get ready, and may the best player win! Good luck to all the participants, and here’s to an exhilarating Winter Clash!
