Fast Travel Games, a well-known name in the VR gaming scene, just revealed some exciting news: their Superhot-inspired VR shooter, Action Hero, is gearing up for launch on Quest next month.
Action Hero brings a unique twist by borrowing the time-stopping movement mechanic we’ve been wowed by in Superhot and Superhot VR. Time in Action Hero plays by a simple rule: it only flows when you move. This allows players to execute strategic, John Wick-level gun-fu action sequences.
Set to drop on Quest 2 headsets and higher on December 12th, Action Hero immerses players into the roles of protagonists across five different movie scenarios, each in its distinct genre.
As explained by the studio, “Each movie is broken down into four acts, with every act containing five scenes. You advance by taking down enemies and weaving through obstacles in style, with time toggling into hypergear as you pick up speed. Quick reflexes and crafty strategy are a must; any hit sends you back to the start of the act.”
The folks at Fast Travel Games have teased a few intriguing genres already. Expect to dive into a high-stakes heist, embark on Indiana Jones-style quests, tangle with cyborgs, or stealthily dodge in a ninja flick—glimpses of which are shown in their latest trailer.
Beyond stylish slow-motion shootouts, Action Hero promises boss battles and a variety of weaponry tailored to each storyline. Plus, there are five special ‘Director’s Cuts’—essentially remixed levels offering fresh, tougher, and often zany variations for you to tackle.
Exclusively available on Quest 2 and newer devices, Action Hero hits stores on December 12th with a price tag of $20. While you wait, you can go ahead and add it to your wishlist on the Horizon Store.
