Hey there, Xbox enthusiasts! We’re thrilled to let you know that our latest creation, Overthrown, is landing in the Xbox Game Preview for Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 5. Plus, it’s coming to Game Pass! If you’re new to our adventure, let me fill you in. Overthrown is more than your typical city builder; it’s packed with chaos and lets you channel your inner anime hero, boasting superhero powers and the thrill of a cooperative play with up to five buddies. But don’t worry, you’ll still be put to the test: constructing and defending your city from all sorts of threats like mutants and bandits. Today, I’d like to share some insights that will enhance your multiplayer experience.
Let’s set the scene with a bit of backstory: there’s this ancient, soul-stealing crown with magical powers that lets you lift practically anything in sight—be it towering trees or entire monster nests. Ever thought of sweeping through a forest, gathering trees as you breeze by, rather than tediously feeding a sawmill one tree at a time? Well, now you can, as your powers truly have no limits! Picture this: an epic throw worthy of making history, the speed to outpace anyone, and a spin attack so intense you could soar skyward like a whirring helicopter. Now, imagine wielding these powers alongside five friends. Already envisioning the antics you could indulge in?
To give you a little head start, I’ve got some tips for optimizing your cooperative escapades.
### One Crown to Rule Them All
In co-op mode, the Crown is up for grabs. Whoever gets to it first enjoys the most reserve crown charge for faster access to awesome moves. Although teamwork is the name of the game, a bit of friendly competition won’t hurt. Suppose the Crown gets snatched or misplaced during play—this could spark an exciting chase. It might end up in the hands of foes like a Tuskar or Outlaw, prompting you and your crew to reclaim it. The one who nabs it back scores a nice boost. No need to turn on each other, though—there’s no PvP in Overthrown, so don’t even think about taking out a friend for the Crown.
### Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
The more workstations you construct, the more citizens will populate your city. Playing with friends allows you to assign different people to handle various zones and districts, helping your settlement grow quickly. Remember, not everyone loves every role equally. Maybe you’re passionate about building while your buddy enjoys the thrill of combat—that’s perfectly fine! Dividing tasks amongst yourselves is a breeze.
### Experiment
My last tip? Get out there and experiment! We designed Overthrown with player curiosity at the forefront. We want gamers, like you, to ask, “Can I do this?” and “What happens if I do that?” Spoiler: the answer is probably “Yes, yes you can,” and it’s all the more reason to give it a shot! We’re creating a game rich in interactivity, aiming to deliver surprise and playful moments. That’s what makes gaming with friends so enjoyable!
We genuinely hope Overthrown piques your interest, whether you tackle it solo or team up with pals. While in Game Preview, we’re eager to receive community feedback and would love for you to ride this creative journey with us. Mark your calendars for December 5 when Overthrown joins Xbox Game Preview and Game Pass for Xbox consoles and PC.
(Note: We previously listed the launch date as December 10, but it’s actually December 5. Thanks for catching that!)
