Why I Recommend the Alienware Pro Wireless Gaming Headset

Dell’s Alienware lineup, which saw the addition of their Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse and Keyboard earlier this year, now boasts this impressive headset, rounding out a fantastic set of accessories for 2024. In my review, I even said this headset outperformed all those beloved Razer models like the Kraken V3 Pro HyperSense and the Kaira Pro.

What made me switch allegiance? The phenomenal microphone. While Razer headsets have decent mic quality, the one on the Alienware Pro is simply unmatched. It captures my voice perfectly clear and doesn’t falter, which is crucial for my nightly Discord hangouts with friends. The AI noise-canceling feature can be a bit overzealous, but even without it, background noise isn’t a concern.

The sound quality on this thing is top-tier, thanks to 50mm graphene-coated drivers that serve up a deep, balanced sound across an impressive 20-40KHz frequency. Whether you’re all about the bass, the mids, or prefer something crisper, everything sounds fantastic. Plus, if you’re like me and like your audio loud, the high volume output will knock your socks off. In fact, its speakers feel more robust compared to recent Razer models, lacking only in their tactile feedback tech like HyperSense.

The fit of the Alienware Pro is a bit cozier than the spacious designs from Razer I’ve grown fond of, yet it’s noticeably lighter atop my head—regardless of which you prefer, it’s a fair trade. Thanks to its adjustable headband and stretchy design, this headset should comfortably fit any head size, while the plush memory foam leatherette ear cushions keep things comfy for hours of gameplay. Personally, I find Razer’s roomy, airy pads a touch cooler and more spacious, but the comfort level here is almost a match.

Design-wise, Alienware takes a subtle approach, choosing a clean, slick look over flashy RGBs and bright hues. You can pick it up in "Lunar Light" white or "Dark Side of the Moon" black. It’s well-built and offers a host of handy onboard controls like a volume wheel, mic mute switch, ANC toggle, power button, and a switch to jump between 2.4GHz wireless or Bluetooth. Both modes have worked flawlessly for me, and the battery life—with ANC off—lasts impressively close to the promised 70-75 hours. And yes, you can plug it in if you prefer wired.

A couple of drawbacks? It doesn’t support Xbox console connectivity, and its ANC isn’t the best. But these are minor setbacks for me since I don’t game on Xbox often and I’m not a fan of ANC. If these are dealbreakers for you, there might be alternatives worth considering, but if they’re not, you’ll likely find this headset a great companion—and even better with the $30 Black Friday discount at Dell. Since getting this review device, I haven’t once felt the need to go back to my Razer headsets.
